YAK Youth Services respectfully and gratefully acknowledges that the land on which we are situated is the ancestral, unceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation. We recognize the rich cultural heritage of the land we call home, and celebrate the enduring preservation of Indigenous languages, traditions, and ways of life. We believe it is our duty to educate ourselves about the history of Indigenous peoples and the traumatic legacy of colonialism.
Our organization is committed to the ongoing process of healing and reconciliation. We are proud to offer Land Acknowledgement Signs in honour of the Anishinaabe Algonquin peoples who have inhabited this region for untold generations. Humbly crafted by the young people who visit our youth centre, these Land Acknowledgement Signs serve as a poignant reminder of the profound injustices committed against Indigenous peoples in Canada, as well as our shared responsibility for creating a more just, equitable, and inclusive future.
